Risk factors are typically defined as certain types of behaviors or conditions that add to increasing the risk of acquiring a disease. You may have genetic predisposition to certain diseases that may have been running in your family for generations. If you are an African American male, your chances of developing hypertension are significantly higher than if you are a Caucasian woman.
There are a lot of things we can do to prevent the risk of developing risk factors of hypertension. Among them we include weight control and management, daily exercise, high potassium and low-sodium diets, and increased consumption of fruit and vegetables. If none of this works, there is a number of proscribed medications that can be available to you to reduce the risk factors of hypertension.
